Andrew Solomon: Love, no matter what
What is it like to raise a child who's different from you in some fundamental way (like a prodigy, or a differently abled kid, or a criminal)? Warm-Up
It usually takes 10 to 15 minutes of standing yoga poses for the body to get properly warmed-up. They prepare the body for the more challenging and therapeutic poses that follow. If you forego the warm-up you invite pain and injury. A proper warm-up has both physical and mental benefits and may determine whether or not you continue with your yoga practice. Benefits you can expect by properly warming-up include: overcomes fatigue and helps prevent injury. Improves mental focus and makes the body feel like moving. Increases heart rate and blood supply to the muscles. Generates heat in the muscles and joints, making them more flexible and resistant to injury. The proper warm-up will allow your body to gradually adopt to the specific stresses the different poses impose upon it. A good warm-up, before yoga should become a habit.
